How to: work the pleated midi skirt

There are a handful of pieces in a ladies wardrobe which never go out of style and one of those items is the pleated midi skirt. A pleated midi skirt is the epitome of classic styling reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn, Coco Chanel, Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor… to name a few.

This week I bought two gorgeous pleated midi skirts from Trenery and Country Road in their outlet store for under $80! The best thing about a midi skirt is you can wear them all year round.
Trenery Plisse skirt $49.95 was $119.00
Country Road pleated midi skirt $29.95 was $99.00

Being autumn and heading into winter, I will show you ways in which I plan to wear my midi skirts. I am loving this tough but feminine look I found on Pinterest.

Biker jackets are huge this season. My picks are from Brown Sugar and Forever New. Sussan also has a great looking leather biker jacket but at $399.00, I think it is a bit expensive for a seasonal trend.

Brown Sugar Biker Jacket (black) $159.95
Forever New Indigo Leather Jacket $279.99

I also bought new ankle boots and a handbag last week from Forever New, both of which would go perfectly with this outfit.

Forever New Martini Ankle Boot $99.99
Forever New Bella Donna Handbag $69.99
How cute is this look? I’m a stripe addict and as we are having a few warmer days next week, this look really pique my interest. How can you go wrong with a stripe tee, pleated skirt and cute ballet flats? Tres chic!

I have found the perfect stripe light weight knit for trans seasonal wear from Brown Sugar. I have the knit in both the black and cream and red and cream. The boat neck stripe sweater is light enough for warmer days but just enough warmth for cool breezes. The Brown Sugar Boat neck stripe sweater* is on sale at the moment for $69.95.

Cue Double Pinstripe Shape Hem Jacket $299.00
A blazer is a must have in every woman’s wardrobe. A  blazer will last years and add a polished look to any outfit, even simple jeans and a tee or in the cases above, a skirt and a tee. I love this jacket from Cue. Simple, stylish and won’t date easily.
Of course, the most essential thing to wear with a midi skirt during winter is ankle boots, tights and a lovely knit.

Continuing my addiction to Forever New, I love their gorgeous feminine knits.
Forever New Catia Contrast Cable Sweater $49.95 was $79.95
For a bit of bling for a night out to dinner or a movie etc, how cute is this sequin sweater?
Forever New Melissa Sequin Sweater $59.95 was $69.95

I’m sure I will get a lot of wear out of my new midi skirts, stripe sweaters, ankle boots and handbag. What was your favourite look?
*Brown Sugar kindly gifted the stripe sweaters as per our Disclosure Policy for consideration.
